  19.  Kalki, I've always wondered about that. I consider my 'self' to be made up
  20. of both my consciousness (self-awareness, what have you) *and* the memories
  21. that make up my life and self. If you plugged different memories into my
  22. awareness, I would be a different person.
  23.  In this light, what possible benefit or punishment do I have to look
  24. forward to, if I won't remember this life? It won't be *me* then, it'll
  25. be a person or animal or plant or virus, substantially similar to me in
  26. outlook, perhaps, but not me.

  28.  I.e. in this view, what practical difference does reincarnation make to
  29. me? (Even if there *are* people that remember past lives, the odds are so
  30. low that I'd be one that it doesn't seem worth the bother...)
