- Sorry, I was being a bit unfair -- I answered the question you asked.
- Briefly, people have taken viruses apart and put them back together. The
- components are lifeless; when the components are intermixed [an assemblage
- of lifeless matter] they spontaneously reform in living viruses. It's a
- well known experiment -- I can dig up the references if you want them.
