  12. On a recent dinner date, the restaurant was playing
  13. barely-audible music over the speakers.  Suddenly
  14. my date's eyes lit up.  "Do you know what song this
  15. is?"

  17. I strained to listen.  "Brown Eyed Girl, right?"

  19. "Yup.  Know who sings it?" she asked.
  20.  
  21. "Um...Um...Um... Van Morrison, right?"  Keep in 
  22. mind that I've heard a guitar player in a local
  23. pub I frequent play this song at least 200 times
  24. in my life.

  26. Later, back home, I excused myself for a few minutes,
  27. went into my room, modemed out to the school computer,
  28. ftp'ed out to nevada.edu (which has a copious quantity
  29. of guitar tablature) and downloaded the chords to
  30. Brown-Eyed Girl.

  32. I played it for her later that night, and let me tell
  33. you, I scored BIG brownie points.
