  11. In my capacity as designer for Grinnell Fire Protection, I have a great deal
  12. of contact with individuals involved in all aspects of the construction
  13. industry.  These fellows, by and large, fit the standard stereotypical
  14. mold -- hulking, hairy, pot-bellied chain-smokers with filthy mouths and
  15. habits.  
  16.  
  17. However, unbeknownst to the average citizen, construction workers are also
  18. natural philosophers.  They have accumulated a store of wit and wisdom that
  19. serves them in good stead in their line of work -- particularly when they
  20. are installing 5/8" sheetrock.

  22. Here, collected together for your edification, is some of the timeless
  23. wisdom of our noble friends in the girders.
