- The blubberstorm had run its course, but small globules still
- splattered here and there, and the gelatinous landscape quivered
- in resonance. Even though he wore lipoproof boots, Chenkly stepped
- carefully through the steaming drifts.

- Soon plows would clear the streets. The lovely glistening of
- the freshly-fatted city would take on tinges of rancidity. But in
- the gray light of dawn, a cross-country liposkier glided with
- elegance through the virgin fat, her skis making quiet sucking sounds.
- Chenkly watched with wistful admiration; in his youth, he too had
- welcomed the first fall of fat. Now, it was just a damned nuisance,
- and he grimly set to the task of degreasing his car's windshield.
