-
- "Obligation" is actually a very vague term. Is a contingent liability a
- "legal obligation"? For some purposes, yes. For other purposes, no.
-
- Let's look at the context leading up to Adrienne's statement:
-
- "The woman's unalterable obligation to support begins,
- at the earliest, after the last legal moment to abort.
- This is usually 6 or more months later than the moment
- the man's rights are restricted."
-
- Obviously, the relevant aspects of the kind of "legal obligation" being
- discussed are
-
- a) unalterability (by the obligee)
-
- and
-
- b) restriction of obligee's rights
-
- Both of these features are present for charges incurred BEFORE the child is
- born. Therefore, I think it's reasonable to characterize Adrienne's statement
- as "horseshit".
