  25. The single fertilized egg that WAS me died a long time ago. Many other cells 
  26. had, by that time, grown to supplement the same organism, of course, and that
  27. same process of cell division, maturation, and extinction, which constitutes 
  28. this biological organism, continues to this day.

  30. If anything, I find it demeaning to suggest that the genetic code in my cells, 
  31. which I kill without a second thought by the thousands each day, is my ultimate
  32. identity, my humanity. As irrelevant as I think the endless debates over 
  33. "personhood" are to the abortion issue, I will say in passing that there 
  34. simply HAS to be a better measure than that.
