  26. You don't need to look very back in history, you just to need to look in the
  27. right country.  In ~95% Catholic Ireland, the Catholic bishops "allowed" the
  28. Irish people to vote whichever way they wanted in the upcoming abortion
  29. referendum.  This news came hot on the heels of prayers that "our
  30. constitution be once again enabled to express the people's abhorrence of
  31. abortion".  Yep. Theocracies can happen in democracies, and they're not much
  32. fun.
