  30. Let's say that one day your daughter or daughter-in-law is pregnant
  31. and does not want to be.  For whatever reason -- she was brutally
  32. raped and can't live up to your expectations of "loving the child and
  33. ignoring the act" (to say nothing of how her husband would feel about
  34. having to raise a child that wasn't his!), she needs to take some sort
  35. of medication that would harm the fetus and without it she'd suffer
  36. deeply from depression, tests show that the fetus would be deformed
  37. and live a short painful life, whatever -- she just does NOT want to
  38. be pregnant, despite knowing full well your opinion on abortion.

  40. What would you do about this?  Choose one:
  41.  
  42. (a) She would never get into a situation like this!
  43.  
  44. (b) She would recognize the importance of human life, and readily
  45. agree to put the fetus before herself at all times, so she'd be
  46. willing to suffer for it and would have no difficulty with this
  47. decision and she would of course want to have the baby.

  49. (c) I would understand her decision, and although I don't like it, I
  50. would have faith in her and encourage her to do as she sees fit.
  51.  
  52. (d) I would consider the crime of abortion to outweigh my love for
  53. her, and I would tell her this, and would be at least offended, and at
  54. worst I would disown her if she had an abortion.
  55.  
  56. (e) If she were even considering abortion this would mean that she
  57. doesn't understand what I'm telling her, so I'd continue to explain to
  58. her how wrong abortion is until she changes her mind.
  59.  
  60. (f) I would report her to the authorities on the charge of murder, and
  61. blockade the abortion clinic on the day she was scheduled to go there.
  62.  
  63. (g) Other: what?

  65. I honestly don't know how you'll answer, but it would help me
  66. understand your position a lot more if you'd explain how you think
  67. you'd act if abortion suddenly became an issue right in your family.
