- Hi Jason,
- Since my birth info corresponds in date and location closely to yours,
- I thought that I would tell you what info I had found in the Los Angeles
- area. (which is why the bandwidth here instead of e-mail). There is a
- place in Westminster (?) that used to exist (not sure if it is still there
- or not) that has been helpful to me. I believe it was called Triadoption.
- What I did was go to the county courthouse and get the court papers for
- my adoption without too much hassle. They will do this, with the names all
- crossed out in permanent black ink. I took these papers to Triadoption and
- they were able to tell me a little from the papers. I am purposely not
- going into more detail... other than to say that this is one avenue, email
- me if you want to know (anyone). Also, I was adopted through the now defunct
- Childrens' Home Society. They have been absorbed by someone else, and I
- have gone to them several times just asking what they could give me of a
- non-identifying nature. At one point the woman did happen to mention that
- somewhere there is a big hefty file with all kinds of info on me (the usual
- stuff and psych profiles, etc). Not that I could see it or anything, but
- it exists. In California you can dig through microfiche for some nominal
- charge. A friend of mine who was looking for her son at the time I was
- looking for my bparents found him by going out to Riverside and spending about
- 20 hours digging though lists of names of birth records (public records).
- I have tried calling hospitals, but they are less than helpful. And we all
- know that it is illegal to lie to get information over the phone... :}
-
- There are various ways to track info in california, the powers that be would
- not tell me which hospital that I was born in. I still think that if I
- went back to So. Cal for a week or two I could find my bparents. But I don't
- know what kind of havoc that would cause in their lives, which is not something
- that needs to happen unecessarily. I will happily give more details to people
- searching, but if all the cards are on the table some avenues for seaches
- will be closed. I don't want that to happen.
