- TH> I've never posted to this group before, but I thought I'd give
- TH>it a try. I'm an African-American student, just beginning to trace my
- TH>family history. I mention being African American because doing
- TH>research on black families presents some obstacles not encountered in
- TH>other research. I've gotten off to a good start, and basically I'd
- TH>like to know what to do next.

- I use Prodigy and know they have a VERY active Afro- American section on
- the Genealogy BBS (newly created). You might give it a try. Prodigy is
- just another tool and way to reach out to many who do NOT use a BBS.
- The same applies to GEnie. I pay for Prodigy for a year at a time and
- save several $ a month; GEnie is $4.95 per month for use of basic
- services during non-prime time hours (6 pm - 8 am). I have had good
- results with Prodigy and find that many folks use both, in addition to
- BBS. Several of the names on here are seen on *P and *G. Good hunting.
