- This measure will extend prohibitions against discrimination in
- housing and employment on the basis of sexual orientation,
- marital status, and Appalatian origin. The usual gender, race,
- religion and so on are already accounted for.
-
- I don't live within the city limits, so I don't vote for city
- council members, but that won't stop me from calling. I do
- work downtown, though.
-
- Here are the names and numbers of those councilmembers who need to
- be encouraged or persuaded to vote for the measure (according to
- Stonewall Cincinnati):
-
- Mayor Dwight Tillery
- (513) 352-3250
- Stonewall-endorsed; donned a Stonewall T-shirt and hat at
- Stonewall's meet-the-candidates night; Became the surprise
- winner of the majority of votes in the election, landing
- him the mayor's seat; Addressed more than 1000 lesbigays
- and supportive people at Stonewall's annual dinner, chanting
- "Stonewall! Stonewall!"
-
- Pete Strauss
- (513) 352-3346
-
- Nell Surber
- (513) 352-4683
-
- David Mann
- (513) 352-5302
-
- Nick Vehr
- (513) 352-3646
- Pro-birther; didn't actually win a seat on city council,
- but got in through someone else's vacated seat; has vowed
- to introduce a counter-proposal that will put the issue up
- for referendum, or else try to overturn the ordinace at
- the next election.
