  23. That was about the third or fourth day running where I'd been aware
  24. that Rod couldn't possibly keep up with the volume.  It's not
  25. _always_ like that, but it's become more like that recently.

  27. Last spring I saw an article on their editorial policies, maybe in
  28. the Sunday Magazine.  I remember that they talked about instituting
  29. stylistic changes, including using "Ms." in mentioning women and also
  30. not insisting on an honorific for a woman when they wouldn't for a
  31. man.  I seem to recall that the article mentioned that the editor
  32. had dismissed requests for these changes as unimportant, and that he
  33. was startled at how appreciative staff and readers were when they
  34. went into effect.  I'm not sure whether there is any reason to
  35. associate the (more recent) expanded coverage of glb* topics with
  36. these stylistic changes, but I do.  Maybe that's just because
  37. they're both things I'm glad to see.
