- On the last point, the expense relative to dollars, has been
- falling rather a lot lately. I've only been to Britain
- once, but I certainly did meet a lot of very nice people,
- thanks to Our Martin in the general area of London and John
- Fisher in Edinburgh.

- Isn't it a fair statement to say that the terms "nice,"
- "weather," and "Britain" can only be combined accurately
- about 20% of the time, despite seasonal variations, winter
- being the most drear?

- You don't have Oxford on your list. I didn't make it to
- Cambridge, but some lovely folks from there made it to
- Oxford for an evening Martin arranged. I really liked
- Oxford, not least because of Blackwell's, which is a better
- than average bookstore (says he, trying for exaggeration by
- understatement). An advantage of Oxford is that it offers
- the nearness of St. Martin Prime of Abingdon, who can be
- counted upon for all manner of energy and spontaneity.

- Well, I spent five halcyon days in that delightful place,
- where John kept me well housed, well fed, well supplied with
- good brew and good highland liquor, and best of all, good
- company. My favorite place, so far, in Britain. But I have
- a predeliction for Scotland that you might not share.

- Nigel Whitfield can inform you about London and John Fisher
- can inform you about Scotland in this regard, I believe.
- Write if you want addresses.
