- Dealing with people who talk too much or dominate a meeting is never
- easy. However, we found a solution.
-
- One thing that we did with Bi Net / NJ was adopt "Koosh Rules" at our
- discussion group meeting. You know what a koosh is, right? One of
- those colorful rubber-band ball things? Well, Koosh Rules are very
- simple.
-
- 1 -- only the person with the koosh can talk.
-
- 2 -- when you are done talking, people raise their hand and you throw
- the koosh to someone else.
-
- 3 -- only the moderator can interupt, and only tell remind people that
- they're talking too long. (rarely happens)
-
- We've found that people that can't stand the koosh system tend to be
- the people that want to dominate the meeting. So far they've all
- either learned to put up with it or don't come to the meetings.
-
- I highly recommend it to other groups.
