  24. Even if it were meant to be exact, it is possible that the ancient
  25. Hebrew had no (or a poor) method for dealing with fractions.  Since the
  26. Hebrew number system is not decimal, 3.14159... has no real equivilent
  27. in ancient Hebrew.

  29. Besides, nobody knows the value of pi.  All we know are increasingly
  30. better approximations.  I can infer that the Bible places the value of
  31. pi at 3, we must recoginze that this is the best possible approximation
  32. to 1 signigicant figure.  To say it is wrong is in and of itself wrong,
  33. we can only say it is not very precise.

  46. I don't recall the verse, but the Bible also says He compasseth the day
  47. from the night, meaning that the "line" which dives day from night is a
  48. circle.  If the earth was flat this would not be possible, but it's
  49. quite easy for a sphere(oid).
