- There is no concrete evidence, just the bigotted opinions of some
- military and non-military 'phobes. There have been no studies of which I'm
- aware (it would be difficult to design such a study, it seems to me, since
- you'd have to do it in order to assess its effect). There *are* several
- studies supporting what you said about your lesbian friend in the military
- - that gays are notable in the armed forces for their dedication,
- leadership, and hard work.
- Also, gays seem to be much better at behaving themselves sexually than
- their straight comrades (remember Tailhook?). I don't know of a single
- instance of a gay soldier being discharged for sexual misconduct - only for
- *being* gay. Pretty silly, and very expensive.
