  23. As I understand it, the grain of truth this outrageous lie comes from is
  24. that some people who happen to be homosexual believe that the statutory
  25. rape laws in this country should be repealed, as arbitrarily defining
  26. the age of consent at 18 denies reasonable rights to perfectly emotionally
  27. mature people just a bit under that age.  I happen to disagree with this,
  28. because trying to base consent age on emotional maturity would raise
  29. enormous legal problems, but it is NOT an attempt to legitimize child
  30. molestation.
