- Reading the post on sanity certification made me think of all the
- other fine tests that have been squashed down over the years. (Was
- there actually a time when employers wanted their employee's urine?)
-
- I think such a test could be a dangerous thing. It could easily be a
- tool for discrimination. As I understand it, the Rorsharch test isn't
- the most objective test in the world.
-
- What starts off sounding like a good idea seems to have implications
- as to employer's powers to discriminate, label a person evil, etc.
-
- What happens to someone who is rejected from a job because he/she is
- insane?
-
- And finally, maybe we SHOULD have insane people working for
- psychiatrists. Who knows more on the matter: someone who has studied
- the matter, or someone who has been there? I recall the study where
- sane people had themselves committed by faking a few symptoms. The
- patients recognized these people as sane, and asked them what they
- were doing there? (Meanwhile the staff of the hospitals involved had
- no idea what was going on...)
-
- Just some thoughts...
