- pd>A proposed therapy for H.I.V. positive patients is to conjugate DMSO,
- pd>(dimethyl sulfoxide) with isopropyl alcohol and apply to a one or two
- pd>square centimeter portion of the epidermis daily.
- pd>In this way, the viricidal action of the isopropyl alcohol would be
- pd>taken to all areas through the circulatory system, including the
- pd>interior of the cells in the Helper-T cell population.
- pd>Within the Helper-T cell, the viricidal action of isopropyl alcohol
- pd>is sufficient to destroy the integrity of the relatively weak H.I.V..
- pd>The viricidal action of isopropyl alcohol is greatest at approximately
- pd>70% concentration. As the DMSO allows rapid transport of the isopropyl
- pd>alcohol to the entire circulatory system in a few seconds, the
- pd>strength of the isopropyl viricidal action will immediately destroy
- pd>the H.I.V. with which it comes into contact.
-
- I don't think I fancy a 70% serum concentration of isopropanol. I
- suspect that rather more than the virus may suffer!
- pd>This follows current practice in Veterinary Medicine, where DMSO is used
- pd>to transport antibiotics into the animal's circulatory plasma.
- Antibiotics act at much lower serum concentration.
-
- pd>The DMSO allows transport of conjugated substances through the cell
- pd>wall barriers.
- I'm not sure about this, but would isopropanol not be skin absorbed
- without conjugation to DMSO?
-
- pd>A preliminary trial on a human experimental subject of one month's
- pd>duration shows no adverse side-effects.
-
- What quantity was administered?
