  21. Have you ever seen a circ? I doubt it. There is very little 'snipping'.
  22. A metal ring is placed around the head of the penis on the inside of
  23. the foreskin and another metal ring is placed on the outside. These two
  24. rings are tightened together and the tissue in between them is severed.
  25. Some additional trimming may be needed with a scalple or scissors. It
  26. takes longer to strap the baby into the "papoose" than to do the procedure.

  28. FYI, Kentucky is no different than any other state in the USA. There are
  29. teaching and non-teaching hospitals - If you are at a teaching hospital
  30. you certainly could have students, interns residents, fellows, etc
  31. involved in your care. Frankly, there is not too much to a circ - a first
  32. year medical student could easily do it with direction. I have no problem
  33. with physicians (or other health care workers) in training working on
  34. my family as long as they are appropriately supervised and doing "things"
  35. that are appropriate for their level of experience/training. A circ
  36. certainely fits in this category.

  38. BTW, our circs were done by the OB; not that it matters, I'm pretty sure
  39. he did it since I was in the room for the procedure ;)
  40. I believe in most places the pediatritians do the circs.

  42. I would suggest you keep your comments to things that you are knowledgable
  43. about and keep the things you "heard from a hospital" to yourself. Your
  44. vehemence makes me wonder if you were circumcised against your will as
  45. a baby? It seems that there are more important issues in life right now...
