- Subject: porcelain veneers on front teeth

-
- I started seeing a new dentist and he recommended I get a porcelain veneer
- to cover a front tooth that has turned gray (because of trauma to the tooth
- when I was a kid). I have a Consumer Reports book on dental issues, and
- I looked up veneers in there, so I'm aware of how veneers are done and
- some of the problems they can cause (decay under the veneer if it's done
- poorly, irritation of the gum). What I'm interested in is comments from
- people on these veneers -- if they've had trouble with them, how long they
- last, cost, etc. (My dentist quoted me a price of $300 -- oof!)
-
- Just in case it matters, I'm 27, and the dentist does *not* think the tooth
- needs a root canal. The tooth *looks* dead, but it seems to have some
- vitality in it (though admittedly a good deal less than my other teeth).
- It also doesn't hurt or bother me in any other way.
