  13.     Dear Netters,

  15.     I have one problem I am not able to answer by myself. I'm working
  16.     on  host-parasite interactions in insects ; and more precisely on
  17.     spatial distribution of both hosts  and  parasites.  For  several
  18.     reasons,  I  need to transform the host spatial distribution pat-
  19.     tern (which usually show a highly agretated  structure)  into  an
  20.     uniform distribution, in both the x's and the y's direction. This
  21.     will allows me to accurately diescribe the characteristics of the
  22.     parasite  distribution AT A STANDARDIZED HOST DISTRIBUTION.. So I
  23.     have the Xi-Yi coordinates of all the hosts, and I  thus  need  a
  24.     transformation on these pairs of data.

  26.     If there is only one patch of hosts, the most obvious transforma-
  27.     tion  is  to  take the ranks of the x's and the y's. However, for
  28.     more than one path such a simple transfomation does not work  any
  29.     more.
