- OK, this bugged me back in high school, and then I was sick last week
- with nothing better to do, and I tried to figure it out, and it's
- bugging me again. What is the formula for the solutions of a cubic
- equation
-
- x3 + ax2 + bx + c = 0 ?
-
- The quadratic formula is so trivial, but I couln't make any progress at
- all with this. Actually, I saw the formula for the solutions a long time
- ago in a book, and they involved sines and cosines, which didn't make
- much sense, but I didn't pursue it further. So, how is the solution
- derived?
