- You are absolutely correct. The actual partial pressure of CO2 reflects
- an equlibrium between CO2, HCO3- and CO3--, along with the predetermined
- alkalinity of the ocean.

- For a complete discussion (that is very readable), see Tracers in the Sea,
- by Broecker and Peng. Remarkably, even when you take into account all
- of the above mentioned factors, the equations that give the correct answer
- will just about fit on the back of an envelope!
