I have a really old tube amp that doesn't work anymore. I originally got it out of my neighbors trash. I was in a big wooden box with speakers and a turntable. I brought it home and salvaged the amp. It worked GREAT! After using it for about a week I decided I would have to buy new speakers to get the most out of it. This is where my trouble starts. After hooking up the new speakers the amp blew a fuse...and keeps blowing them even if I put the old speakers back. I suspect that the impedence of the
new speakers was different and may have shorted out one of the parts in the amp.
Does anyone know of a way to find the shorted part or a way to find out if that's the problem? Also, is there a way to find out what impedence speakers I should use? The old ones don't say but the new ones were 8 ohms.
This amp can handle 150 watts x 3 channels! I don't have money for a new one and since I have a lot of test equipment at my disposal I would rather fix it myself. Please Please help me, this amp sounded absolutely awesome. Oh, I forgot to mention that I had all the tubes tested and they check out O.K.
If you can help please E-Mail me so you don't clutter up the net.
