- Normally, the distance is either given as a line of sight distance (draw
- a line from the observer's eye to the furthest point on the Earth's
- surface you can see) or as a surface _along the Earth_ (the length of the
- arc of the Earth running from where you are standing to the furthest
- point you can see. Then you have to deal with the central angle, and
- that's what his (and my) equation were all about.
