  22.    The original images are 16-bit, but when you save them in some formats
  23.    like .TIF, they are reduced to 8-bit. FITS format conversion from the 
  24.    SBIG software DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY, AND WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE 
  25.    ORIGINAL DATA!!  The .GIF may reduce it to 8-bit; I'm not sure.
