- The original images are 16-bit, but when you save them in some formats
- like .TIF, they are reduced to 8-bit. FITS format conversion from the
- SBIG software DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY, AND WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE
- ORIGINAL DATA!! The .GIF may reduce it to 8-bit; I'm not sure.
