  13.                 RADIOCARBON DATING RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP

  15. The University seeks applications for a Scholarship of $NZ6,000 (non-
  16. taxable) tenable in the Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory of the Geochronology
  17. Research Unit.  The appointee shall work towards a D.Phil degree on any
  18. topic which makes significant use of carbon dating techniques.  Subject to
  19. satisfactory progress, the Scholarship will be available for up to three
  20. years.

  22. The applicants should be eligible for a D.Phil degree, by holding a good
  23. Honours or Masters degree. No specific experience of carbon dating is required,
  24. as full training will be given.  The candidate's background should be in
  25. science or archaeology, and experience in practical science would be advantage.

  27. In addition to the Scholarship, the applicant will work as a technical
  28. assistant for 10 hours a week in the Laboratory.  This position is
  29. available for 3 years subject to progress.  The part-time technicians
  30. position will carry a minimum salary of $NZ6,193.00 per annum, based on
  31. Grade 1, step 5 of the Technicians' scale.
