- My wife and I are refinishing some ladder back chairs to match
- a tile top table I'm building. She just called and said that she had a
- problem with the first chair when she tried sanding it down for the final
- coat of Watco Teak Oil. She put the first two coats on yesterday as per
- the instructions on the can without problem, then today when she sanded,
- the majority of the oil came off in "gummy, waxy globs" (her techical
- term :^)). The chairs originally had a dark walnut stain with a really
- thick high gloss finish. Could something from the original finish be
- blocking the Watco from being absorbed? Should I try thinning the Watco?
- We've used oil from the same can to finish some of the parts for the
- table without any problems.
-
- Any ideas folks? Post or e-mail would me much appreciated.
