  14. I don't agree that the discussion over the issue of homosexuality is 
  15. inappropriate for this newsgroup.  As Scouters in the BSA it is our duty to
  16. examine the policies of the BSA as to their effect on Scouts, Scouters, and
  17. the Scouting Program.  If Scouters in the BSA can not debate these policies
  18. (yes, I realize that debate hasn't always been the case in this thread) in
  19. an open, informal, and accepting manner, then this organization will grow
  20. old, feeble, and eventually die.  Only by showing our courage to examine
  21. ourselves, National's policies, and the effects on the program can we hope
  22. to continue to provide a program that teaches Scouts to grow into the best
  23. person possible.  And, in this manner, we can keep the organization young,
  24. vibrant, and attractive to Scouts.
