-
- yes. yes. yes.
-
- where i come from hunting deer with a high-powered rifle is illegal
- because there are too many people about. shotguns have a much shorter
- range. in many areas it is illegal to discharge a firearm across a
- road.
-
- several years ago i was shot at (but fortunately not hit) by an
- irresponsible, probably drunken, 'weekend hunter'. i was near a
- hedgerow in an unmowed hayfield, and i was wearing a flourescent orange
- (hunter-safety orange) down vest. while i admit to having brown eyes,
- the rest of me doesnt look a whole lot like a deer. what this goof
- thought he was doing i will never know as i thought it more prudent to
- leave the area than approach this individual and point out his mistake.
-
- it is *not safe* in the country during hunting season. the great
- majority of hunters are responsible individuals engaging in a legal and
- to them enjoyable sport. however, all it takes is one irresponsible,
- juvenile idiot to frighten, maim, or kill you. don't run on back
- country roads. don't go into woods, hayfields or brushy areas. if you
- see cars parked alongside a road, assume there are hunters about and
- choose another area to run in.
