- These deaths have sure shocked the entire sport society in Sweden.
- After the last death last weak the orienteering association prohibited the
- entire swedish elite from any training or competition at all.
- All the victims of this strange disease have been male elite orienteerers,
- the last one (Melker Karlsson) among the very best in Sweden, and the World.
- After or during training their hearts have just stopped causing immediate death.
- The doctors have found some microorganism named TWAR in some of the victims and
- the theory is that they have been competing or traning with that infection in
- their bodies.
-
- NEVER TRAIN OR COMPETE IF YOU ARE HAVING AN INFECTION IN YOUR BODY
-
- They have all also had in common that they have been competing or training within
- a small region in the center of Sweden. Yesterday reports came from Norway that
- they had had a similar death a year ago, and that guy had also been to that small
- Swedish region. Denmark as well reported two similar deaths yesterday but there
- was no more information about these cases.
- Anyone ever heard of something similar outside Scandinavia?
- I'll keep in touch when there's more information.
- Be careful out there!
