- If you get a chance look for "In Search of the Warrior Spirit" by (I
- think) Richard Strozz Heckler. It is the story (true!) of when he and
- another aikidoka were hired to teach aikido to some special forces
- guys. He is a fairly spiritual aikidoka, so he tried to get them to
- open up emotionally and spiritually with limited success.
-
- There are funny stories. After teaching a jo kata he saw one person
- take a jo out into the woods and he thought "Ah, he wants to practice
- some in a more peaceful setting. He wants to commune with his jo! He
- is making good progress."
-
- Then he spied on the guy and discovered that he was using it to hunt a
- squirrel!
-
- He wasn't rehired the next year, so they are probably not still
- teaching Aikido to the special forces.
