- When someone mentioned using electronic equipment to measure points in
- tournaments my interest was piqued. (This Kendo in particular, though I'm
- interested in all styles in this post) Are these actually in use and where?
- Are they reliable? My only experience with them is in Tennis with "cyclops"
- which is infamous for setting off at the wrong moments (kinda like car alarms)
- which I could see as a REAL problem in tournaments in the martial arts as they
- are in Tennis.
-
- I understand how hard the manual counting of points are. I just realized
- yesterday how hard it is for someone sparring to know. My instructor
- complemented me on that great kick to the head that I did in (my first!:))
- competition (they had all this on film). Me: "I did? I don't remember it!"
- He just grinned.:)
-
- Personal note: First competition ever was last week. A very good lesson in
- humility.
