- Hi again,
- I just read an article about showering, something I spend quite
- a bit of time doing (not as much as on 5 cascade though :-| ).
- It's funny, but I always thought you _shouldn't_ directly pass
- the ball from one hand to the other - ie I always throw the ball,
- and in the 3 shower, you can vary the hands from very close
- together, to about 80 cm apart (about 30 inches) (or more on a good day :).
-
- For the 4 shower - I still can't do 3 in one hand for more than
- 10 throws or so, yet I can do 100 throws of the
- 4 shower with right-hand throws high, and about 60 with
- left-hand throws high. In other words, site-swap doesn't describe
- _everything_ about juggling, and a much better trick for working
- on the 4 shower, is to first work on speeding up and lowering your
- 3 shower (eg I go down to a circle about 30 cm diameter or less),
- then 'flash' the 3 balls - ie throw them at the same speed, but high.
-
- Also, don't get hung up on the '7' in '7 1' site-swap for the
- 4 shower - just do it ! I can comfortably do a 4 shower
- (asynchronous) standing in my bedroom, with a (roughly) 3 metre
- ceiling, and I can take it quite a bit lower. It's certainly
- possible to do the 4 shower synchronously, although I only tried
- it recently - and you can go even lower still that way. It may
- be the only way I'll do the 5 shower standing up in my room :-)
- I can sometimes get about 20 throws of the 5 shower kneeling
- down - I agree with the file on moocow.cogsci.indiana.edu about
- showering in that the 5 shower will take much longer than 5 cascade
- to get reasonably long rus.
- (I can do up to 50-60 with 5 cascade, although I've had one run
- of 100, and a couple of 70).
-
- Just my $0.02 (added to the 0.05 from what I just posted on club
- juggling. I'll be broke soon at this rate :-)
