  14.     For some time I have been looking for a decent and affordable
  15. rifle case for my evil AR-15. Here in California, the second amendment
  16. seems to imply that I can keep but not bear arms. This makes getting
  17. the old firearm to the range a tad tricky.

  19.     Some people wrap their guns in blankets and pretend they are
  20. curtain rods. Others use various gun cases. Many people sell "Nylon
  21. Assault Rifle Cases". These are made to fit an AR-15 and have pouches
  22. for magazines. They come in black or cammo. These are soft cases and
  23. offer little protection. They look like they contain an AR-15 - They
  24. usually do. Then there are nifty hard aluminium cases about 40
  25. Ins long, just the job, but they cost $150.00 and up. Then there are
  26. the plastic Doskocil (SP?) cases ($40.00). These are long enough for 
  27. a pair of double barreled wildfowl shotguns. They are unwieldy, hardly 
  28. fit in most trunks and have some some godawful ugly moulded carvings 
  29. of animals in the plastic. Ugly, tasteless and unwieldy all in one case.

  31.     But the big problem with these cases is they say "Rifle Case"
  32. to anyone who sees you sauntering down Melrose Avenue carrying it.
  33. Seeing as having a rifle is not politically correct, this can cause
  34. unwanted grief.

  36.     So,  while visiting musician friends I noticed they had 
  37. these cool guitar shaped cases that fit an AR-15 with a few inches 
  38. to spare. So I bought a guitar case at my local guitar store. These 
  39. cost between $50-75 new. Less used with Van Halen stickers on them. 
  40. They need some surgery to remove the guitar neck supports etc. But they 
  41. make a damn fine case. Someone with some skill could add elastic grips 
  42. for spare mags etc and have a very nice setup.

  44.     The big plus is it doesn't look like a gun case. Now if I get
  45. some tatoos, earrings and long hair, I can look like I know how to play
  46. a guitar too.
