  14. I was wondering that, too.  Also, I saw another article today, and
  15. they're now saying that the officer with the Glock "fired all 15 slugs
  16. in his clip."  If correct, that would total 21 shots, and would mean
  17. that both officers basically emptied their guns upon perceiving a
  18. threat.  I'm beginning to doubt how well-trained these officers
  19. actually were, but then again, they were there and I wasn't.  Today's
  20. article does say that only one of the five officers involved, the
  21. partner of the officer who was shot, had had special training in
  22. plainclothes operations.

  24. Apparently, from today's follow-up article, there were several strikes
  25. against the cop who was shot:
  26.  
  27.     (1) The area where the shooting took place was very dark; the
  28.         shooting occurred practically under a broken streetlight.
  29.     (2) The officer who was shot was black, which is causing
  30.         further controversy.  It is unknown whether the shooters
  31.         (could have) seen this, because of (1).
  32.     (3) It looks as though he did something STOOPID.  They are now
  33.         saying that the shot cop TURNED TOWARD the other officers
  34.         after being warned not to move, while they were approaching
  35.         him from behind.

  37. So even though the shot officer's partner called out to one of the
  38. three officers who were approaching them -- whom he had recognized by
  39. her voice when she yelled, "Police!  Don't move!" -- this apparently
  40. happened too late to save his partner from being shot when he moved
  41. after having been told not to.  This third officer who was recognized,
  42. by the way, did NOT shoot when the other two did.
