- The point here wasn't to light it, the point was to make the bottle
- explode from the diesel effect (compression ignition). One poster
- said he'd tried it, so I thought what the hell. I put a couple of
- drops into a 2 liter bottle and warmed it by the fire, swirling the
- diesel around to get a good air/vapor mix. Then I shot it. Nothing,
- two holes. In retrospect, it shouldn't work anyway. A 2 liter HDPE
- bottle will rupture at around 200 psi. This is *way* below the
- pressure needed to pressure detonate diesel/air. This also ignores the
- fact that the bullet hitting the plastic won't cause much pressure
- increase in the bottle. If I'd thought it out I'd have realized all
- this beforehand, but what the hell, any excuse to go out shooting.
