  22. The point here wasn't to light it, the point was to make the bottle
  23. explode from the diesel effect (compression ignition).  One poster
  24. said he'd tried it, so I thought what the hell.  I put a couple of
  25. drops into a 2 liter bottle and warmed it by the fire, swirling the
  26. diesel around to get a good air/vapor mix.  Then I shot it.  Nothing,
  27. two holes.  In retrospect, it shouldn't work anyway.  A 2 liter HDPE
  28. bottle will rupture at around 200 psi.  This is *way* below the
  29. pressure needed to pressure detonate diesel/air.  This also ignores the
  30. fact that the bullet hitting the plastic won't cause much pressure
  31. increase in the bottle.  If I'd thought it out I'd have realized all
  32. this beforehand, but what the hell, any excuse to go out shooting.
