- #
- # Yeah right. That is if that stuck out hammer doesn't snag in your
- # clothes. Ever heard of safeties moving to the off position
-
- The Mustang has a knurled hammer, just for that reason. I wouldn't
- encourage carrying any handgun in a pocket, in any case. Use a
- real holster, or a fanny pack designed as a gun carrier.
-
- # while the gun is being carried?. You might end up nutless if you
- # carry one of those museum pieces day in and day out.
-
- It depends on the safety. The Mustang safety is plenty stiff.
- But then again, I don't carry it cocked.
-
- # #While I recognize the merits of the double action/single action
- # #design, and a DA/SA pistol is probably safer than a SA pistol,
- # #ESPECIALLY on a tiny gun, you need all the help you can get to
- # #make that first shot hit the target.
- #
- # A good trigger action takes care of that. DA only guns have proved
- # you can shoot them as fast and accurately as you'll ever need.
-
- That's why I said, "DA/SA." It isn't the DA that is the problem,
- but the transition from DA to SA, and that most of your practice
- will be SA.
-
- # #Also, I have found that I can cock the Mustang for the first
- # #shot nearly as fast taking the safety off.
- #
- # Any effort to attain dexterity will give better results when applied
- # to the better design. Not cocking a hammer is faster than cocking
- # a hammer fast.
-
- There are some merits to the Glock. If told that I had to carry
- one, I can think of worse guns to carry. But I am not persuaded
- that the Glock, or even a modern DA/SA pistol, has obsoleted
- SA pistol designs. Especially when you think about the accidents
- that have resulted from the Glock's lack of external safety.
- Now, with a little care, these sort of accidents won't happen to you,
- but then again, with a little care, neither will auto accidents.
- They still happen.
