  12. A perfect example of the destruction that can be cause by a Tree
  13. Farm...There used to be a beautiful area between Sand HIll Rd and
  14. the Stanford Linear Accelerator near Stanford University, CA.
  15. Rolling hills covered with grass, and huge old oaks.  Stanford
  16. leases a lot of its land since it is prohibited by original covenant
  17. to sell off any land.  So much of Stanford land is either leased for
  18. Industrial Parks, Shopping Center, overgrazed by horses or cattle,
  19. and more recently, leased for a tree farm.

  21. I used to cringe every day I drove by and saw row upon row of
  22. Christmas tree marching up and down these once open hills.  They
  23. have planted some of the trees right up under the oaks, and guess
  24. what, after some years of this the oaks are dying.  Makes me sick.
  25. Just seems to be a total exploitation of the land for money. Yes I
  26. guess someday the area "might" be restored, but those Oaks were
  27. probably hundreds of years old.
