Another thing to check for is if you have really hard water in your area. Here
in Seattle, though the water naturally is fairly acid, they add lots of lime
to the city water to keep corrosion of the water pipes to a minimum. The
pipes love it, the palms hate it.
We recommend that people place the palm in the tub and flush a couple of gallons of water through the soil every month or so (letting it drain away) to purge it of built-up lime.
The first sign of lime problems is new leaves coming in already browned.
