- Went to Dubuque, Iowa over the weekend; here's the obligatory report:
-
- The Dubuque Casino Belle is still in operation, but barely. I was there
- last year and the place was hopping. This time, the tables were never full
- and it was more like a graveyard (well, a graveyard with an occasional
- slot machine dinging in the background). They now have a policy of no
- boarding fee in the month of November, quite a change from when they
- opened. And they made the third-level casino smoke-free (I guess there's
- plenty of room now for both smokers and nonsmokers).
-
- The BJ conditions have deteriorated, too; they no longer have Over-Under.
- The basic game is 6-deck, DOA, DAS, H17, no RSA, and penetration was
- quite good at 5+ decks. Insurance is still available. As in all Iowa
- casinos, the max bet is $5. The min bet on the Casino Belle is $3. You
- can play two hands at $5 each, however.
-
- For the record, I made $15 in 2.5 hours (whoopee). I was up over $50 at
- one point, but the variance caught up with me in the last half-hour :-)
