  14. At a used record shop I picked up two square dance albums.  Both are on
  15. the heavy record-stock that (I assume) predates vinyl.
  16.  
  17. One was without calls, and had some good arrangements and medleys on it.
  18. The other had calls, but they weren't what I expected - no right hand
  19. stars or pass thru's, but it had calls like:

  21. "The lady go round the lady and the gent go round the gent, the gent go
  22. round the lady and the lady go round the gent" or
  23.  
  24. "First couple to the right, circle four a while, then turn your partner
  25. 'round in that gay cowboy style, then swing with your opposite as if it
  26. were your own, then swing with your Rose of San Antone"
  27.  
  28. The calls that caught my attention were "make a basket" and "turn the basket
  29. inside out".  They were in a dance done to Jingle Bells' melody, although
  30. the words were non-seasonal (in fact, I don't recall a single word that 
  31. matched Jingle Bells).  Partners were periodically exchanged in singing-call
  32. style.
