- BD Super Biners don't work properly when the gate mechanism gets gritty, even
- just a little gritty. Most other self-locking biners work well enough when
- dirty. If even a small amount of grit gets between the outer aluminum gate
- sleeve and the inner plastic sleeve, the friction caused keeps the outer
- sleeve from rotating freely. It also makes the gate hang when released for
- closure. The only solution is to keep the gate mechanism meticulously
- clean. It should be cleaned after each day of hard use. I'm trying
- different bicycle chain lube products on it to see which improves its
- performance most. I'm going to try one of the new dry lube concoctions next.
