  22. Sales may have been lacklustre but both Ford & Chrysler managed to
  23. sell more cars than the year before, and Saturn sold as many as they
  24. could make.  Chrysler stock has gone from a low of $9 this year up to
  25. $29 and made over $200 million in profits last quarter.  This is
  26. before they even sold any of their new LH models.  In the same period
  27. Nissan lost $200 million.

  29. Speaking of Nissan, I drove past a guy driving the new Altima.  They
  30. are positioning this against the Accord and Camry.  All I can say is,
  31. it's a good thing they aren't trying to go toe to toe with Ford
  32. Taurus.  I laughed when I saw the thing, it is both shorter and
  33. narrower than my wife's Topaz.  I read somewhere it is about 2"
  34. narrower than the Stanza it replaces.  By the way, it did not have
  35. the Stanza badge they have in the ads, it just said Altima.  I'm
  36. not sure exactly who their target market is but they start at $13K.
  37. Maybe they want it to be a pocket rocket like the MX3?!?  Seriously,
  38. if they are going after the mid-size market with this, good luck to
  39. them.  The LH models start at only a couple thousand more than this.
