  24.  Agreed, find a good car.  A "good" car will NOT NEED an ESP. I have purchased
  25.  2 used Toyotas ( 86 Corolla, 90 Supra ), and my father another 2 ( 83 Tercel,
  26.  90 Camry ).  NOTHING has gone wrong with mine, and very little on my father's.
  27.  I have never purchased an ESP, and have never gotten stung, additional repair
  28.  outlays for 5 years - $0.  My father likes ESPs, despite my protests, and has
  29.  purchased one for each of his cars.  Well, guess what?  The one ESP expires
  30.  next month, used once to replace the EGR valve @ 90,000 mile, counting the
  31.  cost of the EGR that's ~$300 down the drain, on the 83 Tercel.  His '90 Camry
  32.  is still under the basic warranty, but still nothing has gone wrong.

  34.  By all means, when purchasing a used vehicle, have it checked out by an
  35.  independent mechanic you trust.
