- The lockup converter, alas, only locks when the car is cruising. On any car
- with a lockup converter, the thing readily unlocks at 1/2 throttle or so. Its
- function is not to improve performance, but gas mileage. And I think you will
- also find that with the converter locked, your acceleration would not be as
- good as it would be with it unlocked (locked converter translates to taller
- gear ratio).
