  26. Andrew, this is not playing fair.  What you are doing is the equivalent of
  27. McCarthyism.  Labelling something communist meant that you could not
  28. discuss it then.  Labelling something as racism means that it automatically
  29. becomes bad now.

  31. In fact I admire the Japanese.  They are the first people to show in this
  32. century that you do not have to be white to be smart.

  34. However the question has nothing to do with race.  Can you as an engineer 
  35. or factory worker go and work in Japan if you lost your job.

  37. If Wang were to become so powerful that IBM went out of business, I would
  38. not care.  I could go and work for Wang presumably. (yes I know Wang went
  39. bankrupt but I am just making a point.)

  41. But if Toyota, designing its cars and making most of the parts in Japan,
  42. manages to make GM and Chrysler close up 50% of their plants
  43. then a whole host of people get unemployed here  and they cannot go to
  44. work in Japan.  I get to pay the taxes to 
  45. keep these people alive, and I get to deal with the society that decays
  46. because of a lack of jobs.  Lastly where is my daughter going to find
  47. jobs if I managed to export all jobs to foreign countries.

  49. If I because of my shortsighted greed force American plants to close,
  50. a whole host of manufacturing skills will disappear.   Does anyone know
  51. how to mass-produce TVs VCRs and Flat-panel displays in the US anymore.

  55. Buying American is just common sense.  It has nothing to do
  56. with racism.  I do not even belong to the same race as the people
  57. who make my cars.
