- Many years ago in Massachusetts, if you took your driving test in a car
- with an automatic transmission, you got a license that had a restriction
- for "automatic transmissions only" similar to restrictions for "corrective
- lenses" and "daylight operation only". The listing of restriction codes on
- the reverse side of the license still includes the "automatic transmission"
- restriction, but I don't believe the code is used these days.
